In Italy, thanks to its Mediterranean atmosphere, it is a perfect place for a holiday no matter where you are from or what time of the year it is. The concept of holidays in Italy is one of the beaches, shining sun and of course wine and food. While there are several other Mediterranean countries from which you could choose from, none of them offer you the culture that Italy can offer to you. When choosing to visit Italy for the first time, the first and of course most obvious place for you to start at is Rome.

From the moment you arrive in Rome, you will notice that the entire city is very chaotic and some people may even joke to themselves that it is a wonder that the buildings in this old city still stand today. While in Rome, a must place to visit is the Vatican City. Its age and heritage have played a pivotal role in westernized society and many people every year flock to Italy just to visit the Vatican City. Of course you have many other spots to visit while on a holiday in Italy.

If you are like many other visitors though, by the time you had the opportunity to tour the Vatican City it will already be lunch time and you will see that the atmosphere of the city changes almost completely as tourist trained representatives will pop up out of nowhere wanting you to purchase a slice of pizza and while the food is better then you could ever dream of, you should stay away from them unless you want to see one of the largest bills you have ever seen in your lifetime for a single slice of pizza. Before leaving the Rome area, don’t forget to stop off in Florence as well.

From there why not try checking out the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It is important to remember that after the construction of the tower and the failure of ensuring a stable foundation, the tower began to lean and with each passing year its lean increases ever so slightly. It will eventually fall over no matter what anyone says and the last thing you want to remember is that you forgot to see the tower before it fell to the ground.

From there it should be on to Venice where you can visit a world wonder. The entire city was built in a lagoon and its foundation is composed of timber from northern Europe where an entire forest was cut down and has not since grown back. Keep in mind though that Venice is considered to be one of the most expensive places in Italy so if you can, try to get out of there before you have to pay for a hotel room unless you have the expenses for it.

On top of the beaches, the sun, Rome, Florence and Venice, there are a million places for holidays in Italy that can range from glacial lakes to grape drenched orchards. You can even rent a villa instead of a hotel room and stay right in an orchard so that you can make your way easily to the wineries to try all of the marvelous tastes that are uniquely Italian. Make sure that you eat; and that you eat a lot because when you return home, everyone is going to ask you if you tried this or that and insist that it is “to die for”. If you have missed out, then all of these remarks will make you wish you had done more while on your holiday.
