A favorite vacation spot for many visitors is Lake Como. Lake Como is located just 40 minutes outside of the metropolis of Lombardy, and is a majestic blend of beautiful natural sights, ambient tranquility and high towering, snow covered caps of the Alps. The city itself is also a very intriguing location. Lake Como is home to 400 year old beautiful buildings that tower high above the narrow streets below. Lake Como is also known for its high class villas. The most famous villa in Lake Como is Villa Carlotta, which combines luxurious interiors, an amazing art collection, and landscaping that will take your breath away.
Lombardy is also an excellent destination for wine tasting and golfing. Most golf clubs welcome guests, and are home to some of the most beautiful courses in the world. Wine tasting events are held throughout all of the major cities in Lombardy every weekend. The Oasi di Sant’Alessio, near Pavia in northern Italy, is not only one of the oldest castles still standing in Europe, but is also home to many different species of wild birds that nest in the Po Valley. Oasi di Sant’Alessio is famous not only for its cultural sight seeing, but bird watching as well. Many tourists visit the ancient castle for a countryside picnic in a beautiful destination.
